E-bike specialists

E-bike servicing and software updates

Electric bikes are heavier and faster than standard bikes, so brakes, tyres, chains and wheels wear faster, and the motor, battery and software need looking after too. Our mechanics service e-bikes and update and calibrate the software using the manufacturers' own tools.

We work on e-bike systems including TQ, Bosch and Shimano, plus Shimano Di2 and SRAM AXS electronic groupsets, at our workshop between Lewes and Uckfield.

Why e-bikes need specialist servicing

An e-bike puts more load through every part than a standard bike. The extra weight and speed wear out brake pads and rotors faster, and the motor's torque stretches chains and wears cassettes more quickly. Tyres and wheels take more punishment too.

On top of the mechanical parts, an e-bike has a motor, battery, display and sensors controlled by software. Manufacturers release updates that can improve how the motor feels, fix faults and add features. A proper e-bike service checks both sides of the bike.

Looking after your e-bike between services

Keep the chain clean and lubricated, check tyre pressures before each ride, and keep the battery charged between about 30 and 80 percent if you're storing the bike for a while. Avoid jet-washing near the motor, battery and connectors.

If the motor feels different, the display shows an error, or the range drops suddenly, book a check rather than riding on. Many problems can be fixed with an update or a simple adjustment.

Frequently asked questions

Can you update my e-bike's software?

Yes, on most systems including TQ, Bosch and Shimano, using the manufacturers' own tools. Tell us the make and model and we'll confirm.

How often should an e-bike be serviced?

Usually more often than a standard bike, because parts wear faster. For most riders, every six months or so, or sooner if you ride a lot.

Can you collect my e-bike?

Yes. We collect e-bikes across our local area for £15 per bike, including the return. Let us know it's an e-bike when you book.

Do you update Di2 and AXS groupsets?

Yes. We update firmware, check batteries and pair components for Shimano Di2 and SRAM AXS.
